Lemon Rasam

Prepartion Time: 25 minutes Serves 4

Ingredients
  • 4 small Tomatoes chopped
  • 1/2 cup Toor Daal
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 green chillies
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander
  • 2 tsp of jaggery powder
  • 2-3 tsp Lemon juice(Half Lemon)
Spices
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard
  • 1/2 tsp Urad Daal
  • 1 Dry Red chilli(Optional)
  • 1 tsp Jeera
  • 1 pinch Hing
  • 2 tsp Ghee/Coconut oil
  • 2 string curry leaves
Instructions:
  • Add Ghee or coconut oil and add all tadka ingredients.
  • Once mustard seeds start to pop add chopped green chillies, ginger
  • Let it fry for few minutes. Then add chopped tomatoes.
  • Let if simmer for few minutes.
  • Once the tomatoes become mushy, add salt and jaggery
  • Let it simmer for few more minutes.
  • Add cooked daal and 1-2 cups of water and bring everything to a boil.
  • Add Lemon juice, and cilantro and turn off the flame.
Tips:
  • Do not cook or boil a lot after adding lemon juice.
