Lemon Rasam
Prepartion Time: 25 minutes Serves 4
Ingredients
- 4 small Tomatoes chopped
- 1/2 cup Toor Daal
- Salt to taste
- 2 green chillies
- 1 inch ginger
- 1 tbsp chopped coriander
- 2 tsp of jaggery powder
- 2-3 tsp Lemon juice(Half Lemon)
Spices
- 1/2 tsp Mustard
- 1/2 tsp Urad Daal
- 1 Dry Red chilli(Optional)
- 1 tsp Jeera
- 1 pinch Hing
- 2 tsp Ghee/Coconut oil
- 2 string curry leaves
Instructions:
- Add Ghee or coconut oil and add all tadka ingredients.
- Once mustard seeds start to pop add chopped green chillies, ginger
- Let it fry for few minutes. Then add chopped tomatoes.
- Let if simmer for few minutes.
- Once the tomatoes become mushy, add salt and jaggery
- Let it simmer for few more minutes.
- Add cooked daal and 1-2 cups of water and bring everything to a boil.
- Add Lemon juice, and cilantro and turn off the flame.
Tips:
- Do not cook or boil a lot after adding lemon juice.
